July 6th - The Lord's Day

Sunday morning - a couple of quick pictures in Mom's front yard before heading to church.

Jeff had to go back to Rogers early to preach for Andy. He and Carman were on vacation in Texas. Rachel & I stayed in Girard, so we could go to church with the family.

The services at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (where I grew up) were very good. It was a patriotic service. My cousin, Janis Godeke had done a very neat PowerPoint presentation honoring the veterans in the church as well as pictures of America's history to freedom. Janis had included my Dad (below) which had all of us Boore girls in tears.

Ernie & Barbara Watson and Jeff & I go a long ways back. Actually Ernie pastored Mt. Olive when I was an early teen. Then Jeff served on staff under Ernie at Highland Park Baptist Church in Independence, Kansas during our early married years. The Watsons just recently returned to Mt. Olive.

It was good to be at my ole' home church with many family and friends!

July 4th - Independence Day!

July 4th is always been a traditional time for the Boore family to get together.

For many, many years, Mom & Dad hosted all the family out at the farm. It was something everyone looked forward to, especially the kiddo's! Here are a couple of pictures of a 4th of July from many years ago (probably about 22 years ago--Rachel appears to be around 15 mos):

Adrienne was glad to see her little boy after being away from him for 5 days. (Mike & Adrienne were sweet to let Grandma & Papa have him for a few days!)

July 3rd-A fun night with the Kids

The Jensens and Jeff & I returned to Rogers on July 3rd.

Rachel, Matt & Kristin drove up that afternoon from Conway, so that we could get an early start on Friday for Kansas.

We grilled hamburgers and played games.

Paul, Glo & Rachel spent the night with us and Matt & Kristin stayed with Josh & Erika.

They all came back over Friday morning for breakfast. Josh had to fly out around noon for work. Paul & Glo was heading to the LPGA golf tournament and the rest of us headed to Kansas.

A Wonderful Time with Friends

Paul & Glo Jensen and Jeff & I joined Kaye, Rob, & Lincoln and Keith & Wilda at their lakehouse in Bella Vista July 1-3rd. We sure had a great time together!

Good Morning

It's a rainy Saturday morning in Rogers, Arkansas. I need to be walking, but will have to wait for a break in the rain. However, I am "bathing" in God's sunshine this morning, marvelling at His goodness and abundant blessings on our lives!

Jeff & I both, almost every day without exception, tell our Lord, Thank You, Thank You for selling our home in Texas. If we don't remember to do it during our quiet time....watching the Nightly News always reminds us to be so grateful! Our hearts still overflow with gratitude and amazement that God sold that house so quickly. We were able to pay off all our bills, become debt free -- and live here these several months without a job. This time of rest has been such a major blessing to both Jeff & I. And we don't ever plan to go back to a lifestyle of having more than we need or living beyond the basic necessities of life.

We don't have anything specific to report concerning jobs, but Jeff does have his resume submitted to a couple of places and we are just waiting on God to open and/or close doors. Jeff is preaching the next two Sundays, filling in for a couple of different pastors and he's been booked for two revivals in the fall. He continues to stay busy with numerous projects that he didn't have time to work on while in the pastorate. He faithfully rides his bicycle every day for 30-40 minutes and I've been walking 45-60 minutes. So we are feeling better. Now if we could just NOT eat - ha!!

We've enjoyed visits recently from various friends: Jim & Margaret Wolf from Red Oak, Texas (members of First Baptist and Jim & Jeff were on staff together); Mark, Lana, Steven & Isaac George from Cedar Hill, Texas (Mark & I worked together at Cedar Heights); and tonight we are meeting Mike & Denise Cannedy for dinner in Springdale. Denise was one of the secretaries at Antioch Baptist Church when Jeff was on staff there. They now live in Van Buren, Arkansas.

We are looking forward to a fun week. Our good friends, Paul & Glo Jensen from Conway are coming for a visit during the week. We are going to join Kaye & Rob (and little Lincoln) and Keith & Wilda Head at the lakehouse for a couple of days and a night. Then Paul & Glo will stay with us a night and we'll have fun here in Rogers. Then on the weekend, Rachel (Derek has to work), and my nephew, Matt & finace', Kristin are driving up from Conway and riding with Jeff & I to Mom's in Kansas for a big family 4th of July get-together. I'll be posting pictures of it all, so check back after the 4th.

Thanks to so many of you who have emailed checking on us and for all those who are praying for us. We appreciate it more than words can say!!

Such a Blessing!

I feel like this godly woman is a close friend, although I've never had the privilege of meeting her personally. However, through years of doing her Bible studies, attending her conferences and simulcasts, she has truly been one of the greatest earthly influences in my life. I know that millions of women share this feeling. Beth Moore's Bible studies have been a tremendous joy and tool for growth, encouragement and instruction. I'm so very grateful to God for anointing this lady and her willingness to share her gifts and talents with the women of this generation.

Thank you, Lord, for Beth Moore and thank you, Beth, for allowing God to use you!!

I just completed her last study, "Stepping Up," which has been excellent -- especially since we just returned from the Holy Land when I started it. There are many references to Jerusalem and the sites we saw while there. I highly recommend this study of the Psalms of Ascent! I did this one on my own and downloaded the video sessions over the internet at a reasonable cost. Check out www.Lifeway.com for more information.
I'm anxious for her newest study on Esther to hit the shelves. But am also looking forward to starting "Conversation Peace" with the gals from our church next week. My daughter-in-law, Carman and Amber Paul will be leading us. I'm sure it will also be a great study and minister to each of us.

To those ladies who are reading this blog -- please let me encourage you strongly to get involved in a daily Bible study -- whether it be one of Beth Moore's, Bible Study Fellowship (which is also excellent) or any of the numerous others that are available. Such a blessing these studies are to your personal growth!
