As I jotted down a few happenings in October for this blog, I realized why the month was such a whirlwind in my mind. Goodness gracious, it was a busy month with lots of activity. But I am so thankful for every minute of it!!
The end of September/first of October, Jeff stopped in NWA on his way home from a meeting in Little Rock and picked up Lainey-Bug who stayed with us for a few days.
The time was filled with lots of fun and hopefully some good memories for the Bug! She helped DeDe make pumpkin cookies (yes, the very easy kind!)
One day, we went to Galena's park....this girl loves to swing!
And of course, there was lots of playtime with DeDe's stash of toys, old jewelry, etc.
Since she was so good during the Ladies Bible Study that meets at DeDe's house, we treated her to Chick-Fil-A for lunch
She went to AWANA at our church on Wed. night. It was "silly sock" night so she and DeDe participated wearing Christmas socks :-)
She loves to dance...so Papa complied.....

Her last night with us, we went to the park in Joplin
And then on Saturday, we took her back to NWA and got to see her play soccer!

The next week, we were privileged to attend the annual Pastors' Oasis in Branson, MO. Always a wonderful, refreshing time! So thankful to our church for sending us each year.
We always have fun spending time with Paul and Mary Mooney and Aaron and Jenae Polok at these events. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Joe's Crab Shack on the Landing
Sunday, October 13th, was Friend Day at First Baptist. It was an extra special day for us as Josh and Angela Stanbery and Jennifer Jones led us in worship that day. Josh was our worship leader at Cross Church, Pinnacle Hills, Rogers when we lived there. His parents, Gilda and Hollis, were in the same Home Group with Jeff and I and we became great friends. We do love the Stanbery family!!
That afternoon, Mom and I drove back down to NWA to stay with the granddaughters for a few days while Andy & Carman took a little vacation to Texas.

One evening, we meet Matt, Kristin, Ellis and Nora at Aubelos for dinner. It was our first time to meet little Nora

The next day, we met Rachel and Copeland at one of my favorite resturants there....The Crumpet Tea Room in Rogers. All 3 of those kiddos were so good the whole meal!
During the month, we celebrated two friends at their surprise birthday parties. First it was Mary Mooney. Mary and I have been friends over 40 years...one of my longest friendships. The Mooney family are special to us!
And the next night, there was a church-wide surprise 50th b/day party for Leigh Ryan. Leigh is Jeff's secretary and a good friend of mine. Another fun party!
On her official day, we went to eat at Johnny Carinos (it was the staff meal, but Paul and Mary already had another commitment and wasn't able to join us)
The ladies at FBC have been enjoying a wonderful Bible study this semester...Beth Moore's, A Heart Like His on David. We completed the first half last week (and will finish the second half in January). The morning group went to Red Onion for lunch that day.
And the evening group had a potluck meal together at Tina's home. I love all of the ladies in both groups!
And then this week, Rachel asked if I could keep Copeland for a few days. So we went back down to NWA on Monday. Jeff hadn't got to see the girls in 3 weeks, so we spent some time with them before bringing Copeland home with us. We are so glad the kids are only about an hour and 15 minutes from us!

The girls had been given a treasure chest of dress up clothes from some friends in Texas, so they "dressed" up for us :-)
That afternoon we brought this sweet little guy home!
He was so good....eating carrots for me, which was a new thing for him (his Mom wanted me to feed him this).
He slept 11 hours both nights!
We joined Judy Hall and Leigh Ryan for lunch and browsing at another favorite place of ours..Sandstone Gardens
And then Copeland got to attend our Trunk & Treat at FBC.

We are so thankful that our kids share their kids with us. What a tremendous blessing and joy it brings Jeff and I!
We didn't get to see the girls trick or treat, but had to include this picture that was posted of them. Hopefully next year, we will get to see them in person too.
And then yesterday, Kaye, Rob and Ellis came from Bella Vista and Mom came from Girard and we meet in Joplin together so Mom could get a new car. Ellis was great for us during that process, playing in the dealership's child room. She's a cutie!
We love Mom's new Toyota Rav4 car. I'm looking forward to driving it next week to the Senior Adult Conference in Branson!
It was a fun day with family!
And now November is upon us -- and it looks to be just as busy!! It's a month of giving thanks and I will do that many times over as God has so richly bless me and my family and I am so very grateful!!
